It’s raining, it seems like oceans of water have fallen upon your hair, making the normally subdued colour shine in the light of the streetlamps. the ground beneath your feet is sticky and with every step it tries to steal the heels from your feet, sucking them down to the dark decrepit depths that have already stolen everything from you. All you want to do is curl into a ball and watch as everything around you fades to dust, with your tears adding to the endless oceans that have already fallen. The love that you so briefly got to hold has been stolen, the endless void has taken back the only happiness you really cherished. Sure the nice lady who took you in said she loved you and provided for you alright, but that was just the love that every child deserved. No, now the void has taken the love from you that you had to fight for, that every human being dreams of but almost none find and fewer deserve. That is the love you saw ripped from your grasp before your eyes.
The downpour around you holds no love, no semblance of warmth, it is cold and decrepit, it seeps into your very bones and weighs down your heart. It turns the dirt underfoot to mud and the air heavy. Nothing left in this world can split the sky now, no power can shine a light so bright it disperses the clouds because the only one ever able just got lowered six feet under the earth. He has just now been swallowed down into the dismal nothingness of life beyond. the glares are starting to pierce your skin and draw blood for the rain to wash away and the world to forget it ever saw. The voices are no less kind than than the glares or the rain, they bring nearly the same tears to your eyes as does the rain and the hole gaping and festering in your heart.
“You did this, witch.”
“I always knew you were bad for him.”
“It should have been you.”
You hadn’t done anything, it was a day like any other, wake up to his soft kiss upon your lips and open your eyes to see his goofy smile and a plate of breakfast love in his hand. He lay beside you and fed you pancakes and bacon while you adjusted your eyes to she shine of his smile and the twinkle of love in his eyes. When he got home again it was right back on course, loving glances and reason-less giggles sent back and forth to one another. But then it all changed, an instant after a crash loud enough to be heard four provinces away you were thrown behind him and another crash rang out. there you lay held in the bloody arms of the one you loved being told that it would be ok even though you weren’t the one with a hole the size of a baseball in your chest, he had shielded you from any danger like the knight he was.
“Goodnight sweet princess, I will see you in a world better fit for angels soon enough, when this world has seen all it deserves of your light you will join me I’m sure.”
With that he was gone, wiped away from the worlds eternal tapestry in an instant. As you look down at the small blade in your hand you think that you may see him sooner than expected.
